ESF Coaching & Refereeing

AIMS
  • Support the development of squash across Europe via professional training & development for coaching & refereeing
  • Ensure ESF contributes to the development of coaching and refereeing at world level (via WSF)
  • Represent ESF’s interests and influence in coaching and refereeing  within WSF.

Range of activity

  • Deliver coaching awards(Levels 1-3) and referee trainingcourses (introductory & national)
  • Assessthe competency of coaches and referees, encourage and support their development, and maintain ESF records
  • Train & develop tutorsand assessors
    . . . . . to clear, consistent and recognised standards
  • Hosting ESF & WSF Conferences~ encourage sharing of expertise and best practice
    . . . . . . across diverse needs of European nations

Coaching

  • Coach education/development & coach tutoring
  • ESF Coaching Programme: Levels 1 to 3
  • Derived from UK Coaching programme (with ESR support)
  • Central ESF courses at L1-3
  • ESF certified L1 & L2 delivered for MNAs by ESF coach tutor
  • First 3 ESF L2 Coach Tutors (2010)
  • Future developments:
  • Coach tutor course ~ L1 early 2012
  • Enables MNAs to deliver ESF L1 awards to agreed standards
  • ESF Conference/workshops ~ late 2011/early 2012

Refereeing

  • Appointments to ESF (and other) events
  • Mentoring & assessing referees through pathway
  • To WSF recognised standards

  • Referee Tutors ~ first batch trained in July 2010
  • Delivery of referee courses for MNAs: ‘intro’ & ‘national’
  • Expanding the team of assessors/mentors
  • Promoting MNA self-sufficiency as cost-effective solution
  • 900 (1,000) assessments across 120 referees
  • 6 Regional referees --> international nominations
