ECC 2016 - Eligibility for Member Nations

This is an important message to remind all MNA’s of the eligibility regulations.

The ECC in 2016 is scheduled to be held in Pontefract, England from 14-17th September 2016.

This is to ensure that all teams will arrive in Pontefract with the full knowledge of the regulations and to emphasise the message that it is the nominating MNA who takes responsibility for ensuring this.

The eligibility requirements are set out in section U of the ESF Championships regulations.

The important points to note are the changes that were made for last year. Some teams claimed to have no knowledge of the changes and claimed they had no advice from their MNA. Whether this was the true case, or not, it is not acceptable.

The purpose of this letter is to ensure this does happen again in 2016.

MNA responsibilities

The MNA is responsible for nominating the team and for ensuring all the terms and condition set out in the regulations are met in full. The MNA is considered to be the official agent for the club. (see regulation A, paragraph 1)

1.That the nominated team has properly competed in an MNA recognised qualifying event that meets with the requirements of regulation U1.

2.That the team is properly entered by the 30th June 2016 and all fees due are submitted according to schedule.

3.That no less than 4, maximum 6 men are nominated in a squad in proper rank order. (see Regulations: Definitions for explanation on ‘squad’ and ‘team’)

4.That no less than 3, maximum 5 women are nominated in a squad in proper rank order.

5.That all players are properly listed in the entry form in compliance with regulation U1.2 (this is essential for banding point purposes).

6.That all players have competed in at least 2 qualifying event matches. ( see also regulation U1.3)

7.That each team (of 4 men, 3 women) must include at least 2 players who are currently eligible to play for the MNA to which the club is affiliated.

(Note: this caused problems in 2015 and no exceptions will be made in 2016)

8.That any later changes to squad or team order are submitted in accordance with regulation D7.
