Polish National Championships 2014

The PFS National Closed Championships 2014 officially opened Wednesday evening! The event is hosted in Wroclaw, one of the main Polish cities, the same where the WSF World Junior Championships took place in 2013.

The whole squash fete takes 10 days with a number of different and complementary events: club competition, initiating Polish Masters Squash Tour and Journalist tournaments, free squash classes, concerts and shows.

The key events include: Junior National Closed in all categories played during the week and Senior National Closed starting Thursday through Saturday.

The central point of the Champs where the most splendid moments take place is right in the Old Town: Solny Square with all-glass show-court raised in middle. Starting last Saturday the key matches of the day are played starting just before sunset.

Spectators’ eyes turn to Wojtek Nowisz, 3-times National Champion, the highest Polish PSA ranked player now at 162, Marcin Karwowski, defending champion, and Lukasz Stachowski, current national ranked number 1.

In the Women's event the crowd will focus on Dominika Witkowska, defending and 7-times National Champion (WSA 115), Anna Jurkun (WSA 157) and Magda Kaminska, 2013‘s runner-up who will be strongly supported by her Wroclaw compatriots.

The final matches will be played Saturday May 31 on the show court at Solny Square and the event is expected to be presented by Marcelina Zawadzka, Miss Polonia 2011.

Keep your fingers crossed for good weather and see you in Wroclaw!
