Victories for favourites

The 34th ESF European Club Squash Championships has started in Paderborn and the top teams have demonstrated their strength in the first group games. Starting with the defending champions and host Paderborn Squash Club, who won 4-0 against CS Algemesi. “It was a perfect start for both our teams. We are looking forward to the next tasks in front of the home crowd here at the Ahorn-Sportpark,” says Paderborn’s headcoach Hendrik Vössing.

Last year's ladies winners from Roehampton also won their matches against Oly Koks&tales and SC Monopol Frankfurt 3-0, just as their men's club colleagues kept their clean slate against Fitzwilliam LTC and Edinburgh SC with 4-0 each. The German champions Black & White Worms won their first match against SRC Verduz 3-1 and Uster is already in the quarter-finals after their win against AD Galomar.

In the Ladies’ Group B Paderborn (3-0 against Inverness) and Mulhouse (3-0 against Mount Pleasant LTC) also underlined their ambitions to win the group, their match will take place on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. Frankfurt goes into the last group game against Oly Koks&tales with a win against Fricktal and a defeat against Roehampton.

The final group games continue on Thursday from 10 a.m. in the Ahorn-Sportpark Paderborn, the quarter-finals start at 4 p.m.
