World Squash Officiating (WSO) Update

As you are aware the World Squash Officiating (WSO) platform:  www.worldsquashofficiating.com developed through a partnership between the WSF and the PSA, was recently launched and we are delighted that it has already started to gather momentum.

There are now over 800 individuals from 70 countries registered on the platform who have begun their WSO officiating journey.  WSO starts with a basic rules test and works through to the highest level of elite refereeing, and it is encouraging to see that over 150 of those registered have already moved beyond the basic level and have attained the theory aspects of the more advanced levels.

For WSO to continue its development and for it to become recognised as The Home of Squash Officiating, we need your help in promoting the platform and encouraging your referees to sign up and benefit from the most up to date refereeing information, courses and development material.

We would encourage all MNF’s to add prominent links to WSO on your websites and include WSO information on any newsletters or other communications you have with your members.

We are very conscious that each MNF will have differing approaches to referee development and will require different levels and areas of support.  Hence, we are keen to discuss WSO with individual nations and start to develop bespoke plans that can support yourselves and help us in the overarching aim of creating a worldwide standard in refereeing and a clear referee pathway.

Conversations with individual MNF’s have begun and we are already working with some of you to develop the best way that WSO can support you.  We would urge MNF’s to contact us directly, get involved and discuss the way forward.   And remember that as an incentive, the WSO is offering your Federation a rebate fee of 20% for each referee that signs up and takes a course.

We are also looking at scheduling a series of WSO webinars. Our first was on 23rd June and we are hoping to have another in July where we can present WSO, explain how the platform works and how it can support referee development within your country.  Please let us know if you would like to be involved and we will keep you updated with the details of the webinars.

Whilst the WSO is now live, it is continually being developed and improved with new content and features to ensure that the refereeing community is fully supported.  And it is important to note that it is WSF and PSA’s intention to only appoint WSO qualified referees for major events going forward, so we strongly recommend all your current officials register on the platform.

Please get in touch and between us we can make WSO a success.
