Turkey Squash Championship

The Turkey Squash Championship, which featured in the 2014 calender of the Turkish Developing Sports Branches Federation, took place on 6-8 June, was hosted by Nilufer Municipality and saw 127 players from 12 cities compete. 

The juniors performed well and were able to get most of the medals. The Championship was very important for the development of Turkish Squash and its new approach. The Mayor of Nilufer, Mr. Mustafa Bozbey, explained their new International Squash Court Project to the media which includes 10 courts with a capacity of 700 spectators. The Turkish Squash Vice President, Mr. Guven Karakus, announced that some serious studies have been started for such outstanding court projects in several cities of Turkey, especially in Bodrum. He also stated that their target is to make Turkey an important squash camping and organisation centre of the world. The Championship finished successfully with such good news. Squash Vice President Mr. Karakus presented a plaque to the Mayor Mr. Bozbey because of his kind hospitality and contribution to Turkish Squash. Mr. Karakus also expressed his gratitude to Zena Woolridge, President of ESF, and Andrew Shelley, Chief Executive of WSF, for their kind support to Turkey.
